What a Website Developer Actually Does
A website designer focuses on how your site looks. A website developer is the one who builds what’s underneath it — the code, the database, the forms that actually send emails, the shopping cart that actually processes a payment. At Diverse Website Design, our development team handles both, but this page is about the part most agencies skip past: the engineering that makes a website work, not just look good on day one.
We’ve been building websites since 2013, and every site we ship is hand-coded and configured for your business — not a generic template with your logo dropped on top. If you’re comparing developers, that’s the first question worth asking any agency: are they designing a page, or building a system?

Our Development Process
1. Brief and scope. We find out what the site needs to do — not just what it should look like. Booking forms? Product catalogue? Membership logins? This shapes the build, not just the design.
2. Design sign-off. Before a line of code is written for the live build, you approve the layout. Typically takes around 2 days.
3. Build. Once approved, development takes 7–10 days. This is where the actual coding happens: templates, functionality, forms, CMS setup.
4. Content and testing. Your content and images go in, then we test every form, link and page across devices and browsers before it goes live.
5. Handover. You get full login access, ownership of the site, and a guide for making your own edits. Nothing is locked to our platform — host it wherever you like.
